Dr Joel Rookwood
When I first saw Jamie in 2012 I asked him to rate my general muscle tightness on a scale of 1-50. Alarmingly, he said ’50′, admitting that I had the worst flexibility issues for anyone of my age that he’s ever encountered. He wasn’t exaggerating either. I’m chronically prone to a huge range of minor injuries, which are often linked to my embarrassingly limited range of movement. When I undertook a ‘Fat Burner’ challenge, featured in Men’s health magazine throughout 2012, the intensity of the training was difficult to maintain. Were it not for Jamie’s consistent support I would not have completed the transformation (losing 7 stone of fat, and 18% body fat in twelve months). Jamie’s range of expertise is incredibly diverse, and his attention to detail, capacity to treat people, and his passion for his work are exceptional. I owe him a huge debt of gratitude, and cannot recommend him highly enough. Whatever your injury or condition, give him a chance. It’s a decision you’ll never regret.
After getting injured doing a road race in unsuitable shoes in November I done what most runners do and carried on. Only when the pain got too much in January did I stop. I got assessed and it was looking like a possible stress fracture. After one session with Jamie things started to improve. Following his advice and after continued treatment which lasted for roughly 10 weeks I’m now back training and competing again. Jamie’s advice and knowledge of how the body works is second to none. Highly recommended.
The Treatment Table was recommended to me by other running members of my club, I was really depressed and struggling to recover from a bad injury. As soon as I met Jamie, he immediately made me feel relaxed and at ease. I was confident in his ability to get me back on track. The sessions were great and he had me running again in no time at all. I would thoroughly recommend Jamie, not only is he a excellent Physio, but he also offers great advice and is a really nice guy.
I would recommend going to see Jamie due to his positivity, attention to detail and personal approach. He makes you believe you will overcome the injury which I feel is half the battle. In my experience his availability when needed has been superb and he will always try his best to accommodate you. Excellent knowledge of physiotherapy in sport, along with awesome manual skills, goal setting and training plans that are provided as you gradually step up your training.
I’d been training for the Florence marathon for 6 months, pushing myself hard to achieve my goal, therefore when i picked up an injury with just 9 weeks to go, I was absolutely devastated.
A friend recommended Jamie to me, therefore i got in touch with him. Jamie managed to fit me in really quickly, and started treatment straight away. Every time I have seen a physio in the past, they’ve told me that I HAVE to rest completely, and they haven’t understood how important training is to a runner. Jamie was the opposite, not only did he treat my injury – he worked with me to ensure I kept my fitness up with alternative training in order that I was still in with a chance of competing.
Jamie treated my injury with a mixture of sports massage and acupuncture, and although it was pretty painful, I saw an immediate improvement.
Within 4 weeks I went from not being able to run at all, to training again on a treadmill.
Florence is now 3 weeks away, and I’m able to run! Without Jamie’s help I know for sure that I wouldn’t be making it to the start, line nevermind the finish! Unfortunately for Jamie he’s now stuck with me though, as I wouldn’t consider seeing anyone else:-)
I would recommend Jamie to anyone!
Running at a high level takes its toll and for weeks I struggled with injury and could not find form. After speaking to Jamie, quickly arranging the sessions we had a plan in place.
Within just a few sessions with Jamie he had me back to fitness again. I discovered a new side to Physiotherapy that I had not seen before. With all his physiotherapy techniques, manipulation, and recovery and workout routines I was able to maintain my fitness and push myself further. I would definitely recommend!
I have used the Treatment Table for weekly physiotherapy sessions for over 18mths. Their knowledge and application is superior to all other physio’s I have tried previously.
Within my weekly schedule I incorporate a physio session for both injury prevention & resolution of any niggles which have arisen. With the Treatment Table’s help this has been extremely successful.
It is accepted that sport development is improved through consistent week in, week out training.
I am entirely certain that without the help & weekly sessions from the Treatment Table I would be unable to perform the consistent high volume of training that I do and I would not have achieved my goals of representing Great Britain in both the European & World Duathlon Age Group Championships.
I have no hesitation in recommending the Treatment Table for any injury encountered and/or for injury prevention services.
In July 2012 I had an ACL reconstruction on my left knee following a skiing accident the previous December. Having limped around for 7 months I had lost fitness, movement, and muscle in my affected leg. Following the operation I was very keen to get back to fitness straight away, but had issues trying to organise physiotherapy; NHS vs private and between home/ university – too many cooks in the kitchen!
I finally settled on going private at university in Liverpool and was referred to Jamie. He realised straight away that I was eager to get ‘back to normal’ and has been instrumental in my recovery. A combination of stretching exercises, deep tissue massages and a fitness plan from Jamie to start building up my strength has resulted in my knee feeling better than I ever imagined – I am back to exercise 5 times a week and can’t wait to go skiing again. Jamie has been supportive when I was in pain or had any questions, and also taught me patience with regard to my knee – in the knowledge I would get there eventually! I would highly recommend Jamie to anybody considering treatment for whatever reason.
