Kinesiotaping is a form of strapping where tape is applied to the skin, usually to keep muscles or bones in position. It is usually used as recovery from overuse and other injuries, and can reduce pain and aid recovery.

Taping can fulfil many roles such as supporting the ligaments and capsules of unstable joints in order to limit excessive or abnormal movement. It can also stimulate feedback from the limb or joint, as well as support injuries at the muscle-tendon units – it does this by compressing and limiting movement, with secure protective pads, dressings and splints.
